RCE Parents-

The School Board voted to begin school on August 17th and all students will be virtual. The Board will reassess on August 28th to determine if we will continue educating virtually, or if we can go to school in-person.  Because we are all virtual, you do not need to fill out a virtual form at this time.  You will need to email me ( if you need a device for your child to use.  The district has ordered devices, however, due to the impact the pandemic has had on the country-- they are backordered. If you have a laptop, a desktop PC or anything with a keyboard- it will be usable for the online work.  We are limited in the number of devices we have on hand and will only be able to send out 1 per household.

There has been confusion about the 6.5 hours of work/instruction.  We will supply you with a daily schedule indicating the amount of time each subject requires for learning. Keep in mind our school day is not 6.5 hours of straight work. Included in your child's day is lunch, recess, RTI and a specialty class. Teachers will not be requiring students to do all of the work in front of the computer the whole time. If you have more than one child at home and need assistance in creating a school day schedule for them- please do not hesitate to reach out to us. The following is a guide to assist you in planning your child's learning day:  Reading = 1 hour and 30 minutes, Math = 1 hour and 30 minutes, Social Studies = 50 minutes, Science = 50 minutes, Lunch = 30 minutes, Recess = 30 minutes, Go Noodle = 10 minutes (for a break between work/learning), RTI intervention = 40 minutes

Meal Service - Parental Consent Form

As we prepare for virtual learning Johnson County Schools is still dedicated to providing nutritional meals to our students. During this time students will be able to have meals delivered to their homes via bus routes or there will be a drive-up pick-up location at Mountain City Elementary from 11:00 to 12:00pm. However, this will not be similar to our feeding service in the spring. Students must be enrolled in Johnson County Schools and complete the form below to receive these free meals. This form will be available on our social media pages, district websites, and paper copies will be available at Central Office.

Updates to the Johnson County Schools Call Out System School Messenger Image

Johnson County Schools have been using software for several years to communicate with its parents, staff and students about local events, school schedule changes and general school related information. There have been some major updates to the software over the past couple of months that have not allowed our e-mail communication to go out alongside our voice messages. This has created some confusion and has limited effective communication between the schools and parents. With assistance and guidance from our software team at School Messenger, we have a solution in place that will allow everyone to continue receiving calls via voice and e-mail.
