The safety of our students and staff will impact every decision we make, but it is impossible to ensure absolute guarantees. There will be some health risks as we reopen schools. Second, it is critical we create an effective and viable instructional program for our students. Third, we understand that many within our community depend on school being in session enabling parents/guardians to work during the day. It is important to understand that we have not yet worked out all the details and specifics for next year. We are still working on many of the logistical components of the plan. In addition, future health conditions may require us to modify our plans. However, we still must have a plan to reopen school under current conditions. Although we will face a number of challenges this year, we are committed to making this the best school year possible. We understand things must be different, but we will work hard to make it as normal as possible for our students. We will expect great things from our staff and students. We are all in this together, and we will stand with you throughout this process. Our recent survey shows that, at this time, the majority of Johnson County families want their children to return to our campuses this fall for in-person learning. As long as current guidance allows, our school buildings will open on August 17th with additional safety protocols in place to protect the health and safety of our students and staff. This document contains our initial action plans for several different scenarios we may face as we approach August 17th. We will continue to provide updates throughout the summer.
